Retro dodgeball tournament April 1

-

LITCHFIELD >> Litchfield Education Foundation (LEF) will hold its first “Retro Dodgeball Tournament” on Saturday, April 1 in the gymnasium at Litchfield High School. This fundraising event will feature co-ed teams of six adults, 18 and over, battling it out for pride and to benefit Litchfield area children.

Teams can register on the LEF website for $180 per team with all proceeds going to LEF. On the day of the event, check-in begins at 1 p.m. with the tournament from 2-5 p.m. An after-party will be held at The Litchfield Saltwater Grille at 5 p.m. with light fare and a cash bar with a percentage of all proceeds benefiting LEF.

“This dodgeball tournament is a wonderful way to bring our families and our community together for an afternoon of fun,” said LEF president, Michele Saunders, in a written statement. “All proceeds from this day will go towards educational grants for Litchfield Public Schools as well as for Litchfield-based enrichment programs.”

“We are so grateful to two Litchfield residents with school-aged children — Mr. Matthew Terzian and Mr. Jay Bolton — who approached LEF with the inspired idea to create Litchfield’s first dodgeball competition,” Saunders said.

Both Terzian and Bolton are devoted fathers with a keen interest in building enrichment opportunities for the town’s children.

“What better way to encourage families, friends and neighbors to come together in support for a great cause than bringing back the glory of a retro dodgeball tournament?” said Terzian. “We are overwhelmed by our town’s enthusiasm thus far for what we hope will be a Litchfield tradition year after year.”

Important to note: Teams will play doubleelimination with prizes awarded to “Best Team Costume” and “Last (Wo) Man Standing.” Official rules will posted on LEF’s website by March 1.
