BUTTERFLIES’ JOURNEY: Members of the Pomperaug Valley Garden Club will present the PBS Nova film “The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies” at the Studio at Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust on Thursday evening March 23 at 7 p.m. A discussion of the current status of monarchs, the Monarch Waystation at Flanders, and tips on how to create a butterfly-friendly garden, follows the film. HELP WITH GENEALOGY: Trace your roots at the Harwinton Public Library on March 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Local expert Carol Bauby will be on hand to offer free oneon-one help to our patrons in using Ancestry.com and other online genealogical resources. LASAGNA DINNER: The Lee H. Kellogg School 7th and 8th grade students and parents will host their Annual Lasagna Dinner Fundraiser on Friday, March 24 starting at 5:30 p.m. with continuous serving through 7:30 p.m .at the Lee H. STAR PARTY: Star Party astronomy program is organized by members of the Litchfield Hills Amateur Astronomy Club and the Mattatuck Astronomical Society, will be held March 24, 7 p.m .at White Memorial Conservation Center, Litchfield. Weather permitting, there will be Star gazing after the program; meet in the A.B. Ceder Room. The program is free - donations are welcome.

CIVITAN DANCE: The Torrington Civitan Club will sponsor a Scholarship Fundraiser Dance, March 25, 7:30 – 11 p.m. at Chatterley’s Banquet Hall, 371 Pinewoods Rd, Torrington. PARTY: The Humane Organization Representing Suffering Equines (H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut) will hold a birthday delebration for Fiona (and her friend, Gus) on Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, March 26. LIBRARY FUNDRAISER: The Friends and Board of Trustees of the Morris Public Library will host their 6th Annual Art Around the Box Gala Auction Fundraiser on March 25, 2017 from 4-7pm at the White Barn at South Farms in Morris. Art Around the Box features wooden keepsake boxes, painted and decorated by local artisans, to be auctioned live, as well as a silent auction of art prints and proofs and a silent auction with many prizes including mystery envelopes. Tickets are $15 each, $25 for two, and can be purchased at the Morris Public Library at 4 North Street in Morris.

CHILI COOK-OFF: The Roxbury Congregational Church, 24 Church St., Roxbury, will host a chili cook-off on Saturday, March 25, 5-7 P.M. There will be a variety of different chilies for sampling, including vegetarian. After sampling, vote for your favorite chili, and have a bowl for dinner with salad, cornbread, and dessert, $15 adults, $12 seniors, $6 under age 10. Raffle included.
