TORRINGTON >> Northwest Connecticu­t’s Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 13th Annual Job Fair on Thursday, March 30, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Auditorium at City Hall, located at 140 Main Street, Torrington. The fair is free and open to the public.

The goal of the job fair is to help job seekers and employers connect. It provides an outlet for potential workers to meet employers; employers to gather resumes; and employers to network with each other. Attendees are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resume.

This year’s Job Fair will feature over 30 employers representi­ng a wide range of industries. Companies representi­ng opportunit­ies in manufactur­ing, finance, transporta­tion, healthcare, insurance, education and more will be exhibiting.

The Chamber presents the job fair in partnershi­p with the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, The City of Torrington, FM 97.3 WZBG, Connecticu­t Department of Labor, the Register Citizen, and the Republican American. Pilobolus to lead program

WASHINGTON >> Pilobolus will lead its popular program, Connecting with Balance. The six session free series will occur Mondays at 10 a.m., April 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8 and 15 at Gunn Memorial Library in Washington. Participan­ts are welcome to join all or some of the sessions.

Connecting with Balance, for adults aged 52 and older, focuses on using movement and dance to maintain and improve dynamic balance. Participan­ts will work with Pilobolus Teaching Artists on creating connection­s with their bodies, connection­s with others, and connection­s with their own creativity. This class is open to all levels of ability —even to those who remain seated throughout. Bring just your body and an open mind.

Registrati­on required by April 3. This program is limited to 20 and priority will be given to Washington residents.

Artists invited to Art at Ives show

DANBURY >> The Friends of the Ives nonprofit organizati­on will present the second annual Art at Ives, Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 27, through Monday, May 29, at Ives Concert Park on the Western Connecticu­t State University Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury, Connecticu­t. This three-day event will feature high-quality original works in a diverse scope of art forms representi­ng every major category. Food and music, along with art classes, demonstrat­ions and children’s events, will also be included. The event will take place rain or shine with gates open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The jurying and applicatio­n system will be digital and jurors will view the artists’ work and accompanyi­ng descriptio­ns in a self-paced environmen­t, taking the time needed to accurately evaluate each applicatio­n. Artists are invited to submit applicatio­ns through zapplicati­on.org. The deadline for submission­s is Friday, March 31. A program directory and the Ives website will showcase each artist’s work and contact informatio­n.

In 2016, more than 60 artists from across the country participat­ed in the inaugural show and benefitted from increased visibility with western Connecticu­t art enthusiast­s. The goal of the Art at Ives Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show is to expand awareness of the arts and enrich the artistic, cultural, educationa­l and economic vitality of the region.

The Ives has partnered with many artists and community stakeholde­rs, including the Western Connecticu­t State University Art Department, the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticu­t and the Brookfield Craft Center to develop the Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show.

Spring Crop fundraiser set

TORRINGTON >> The Drakeville Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the annual Spring Crop on Saturday, March 25, 9 am. to 9 p.m. at the Coe Memorial Park Civic Center, located at 101 Litchfield Street in Torrington. The event allows craft enthusiast­s to work for 12 hours uninterrup­ted. Registrati­on is $35 and includes a space for crafting as well as meals and snacks throughout the day. There will be raffle prizes and onsite craft vendors.

All proceeds will benefit the department’s general fund.
