- By J. Timothy Quirk

NEW BRITAIN >> S.W.A.N. Day CT is celebrating its tenth year with a gala event at the beautiful Trinity on Main in New Britain, on Saturday, March 25.

Featuring an extraordinary line up of performers, the event will have vendors, live painting, live body painting and burlesque in the evening.

S.W.A.N. is an acronym that stands for Support Women Artists Now. Event coordinator Jennifer Hill, dubbed “Mama Swan,” promises that this Saturday will be the biggest event yet which should thrill the audience and performers alike.

Two of the three hosts for the gala event have Torrington connections. Ebony Amber, a fashion designer based in Torrington and co-host of the Amber Green show, will share emcee duties on the concert hall stage. Darcy Anderson-Abbott, host of WAPJ’s The Hot Spot with Darcy, will host in the rotunda stage. Sharing the emcee duties for the evening’s festivities is none other than WTNH’s Ryan Kristafer of CT STYLE.

A special guest will be “god-

mother of rock and roll” June Millington, who will discuss what it was like to be in the first “all girl” rock band to sign on a major label.

The bands include: Murderous Chanteuse, Tiny Ocean, Nan Roy, Parlor Walls, Elizabeth Dellinger, Nikki Mathis, Patti Rothberg, Canyon, Scarlett, That Virginia, Gracie Day, Terri Gladwell, Sarah Golley, Jen Taylor and The Telle.

Breakadawn will be our mixmaster for the night and artist Kerry Kennedy will be painting live on stage, a tradition that began 10 years ago.

Kaylee Doll will be body painting live on stage; there will be dances by Visceral Movement and a special performance by Anatolia Firegoddess. In the latter part of the evening, performances by burlesque dancers Vivienne LaFlamme, Mistress Leona Star and Harley Foxx will begin.
