Kent library raffling 1998 Porsche
KENT >> The Kent Memorial Library will raffle a pristine 1998 Porsche Boxster in a fund raising raffle project starting on Memorial Day. The crimson red convertible has very low mileage, a five speed manual transmission and a six cylinder boxer design engine as well as several factory upgrades. For more information, go to kentmemoriallibrary.org.
“We’ve brought the car raffle back by popular demand and this year’s car is hot and beautiful,” said Jim Blackketter, copresident of the Kent Library Association and a member of the “car guys” team that organizes each year’s raffle. Tickets are $20 and a drawing for the winner will be held during the 41st Annual Kent Pumpkin Run on Sunday, October 29. Winners do not need to be present to win.
Raffle tickets are being sold in the library, during the annual Library Book Sale and at multiple venues around town.
Tickets may also be purchased by sending the Library a check with a self-addressed stamped envelope addressed to: Kent Memorial Library Car Raffle, P.O. Box 127, Kent, CT 06757, and the raffle stubs will be mailed back to raffle entrants.
Entrants must include a phone number where they can be reached on October 29 should they win. The state of Connecticut requires that all raffle tickets be completed as directed.
The Kent Memorial Library launched the popular car raffle 12 years ago. Proceeds go to support the Library’s operating budget and make an important contribution since the Library is responsible for raising over 70 percent of its annual budget.
As an added attraction for this year’s car raffle, critically acclaimed Sharon Playhouse (https://www.sharonplayhouse.org) is once again giving away a set of two tickets each week to a show on its summer schedule. This year’s schedule includes “Minor Character,” “Footloose,” Far Away,” and “The Music Man.”
