Library Luminaries fundraiser benefits Gunn Memorial Library
WASHINGTON >> The 22nd annual Library Luminaries event to raise funds for the Gunn Memorial Library is scheduled for Saturday, May 20. This year, eight simultaneous dinner parties will take place, all hosted by generous and interesting area residents in their homes, and each highlighting a notable “Luminary.” A pre-dinner cocktail party will be held at the library from 5:30 to 7 p.m. which is included in the cost of a dinner, and open for a contribution of $75 to those who may not be attending dinners.
While some dinner seats are still available, they are filling up quickly. There is still space for those wishing to attend the cocktail party only.
Gunn Memorial Library raises the greater part of its operating budget through individual philanthropy and annual events like Library Luminaries. Connecticut statistics show that Gunn Memorial Library boasts twice the number of visits per capita of towns its size and performs at the top of library measures statewide.
Guests choose from among the eight dinners when submitting their RSVPs. With donations ranging from $175 per person and up, in the case of a sell-out, placements are determined both by date of reply as well as a supporter’s contribution level. Diverse programming provided by the library throughout the year is always free of charge, thanks to our generous donors. We are grateful to the steadfast supporters of Gunn who come together on this night every year to make all of that programming possible.
This year’s Luminaries and hosts include Marianne Boesky, art dealer and NYC gallery owner, hosted by Erika Klauer & Collin De Rham; Artists Emily Buchanan & Brendan O’Connell, hosted by Elliott Davis; Clyde Haberman, journalist and longtime columnist and correspondent for The New York Times, hosted by Judy Jackson & Bruce Haims; Mary Lee Kennedy, previous Chief Library Officer at the New York Public Library, Senior Associate Provost at Harvard, and Director of Knowledge Networks at Microsoft Corporation, hosted by Mary Graham Davis; Robert Linn, New York City’s Commissioner of Labor Relations, hosted by Karen & Henry Glanternik; Patrick Moxey, President and founder of Ultra Music and President for Electronic Music for Sony Music Entertainment Worldwide, hosted by Kate Karet & Jeff Levick; Jonathan Tepperman, editor of Foreign Affairs, hosted by Nicole Alger & Zachary Karabell; and Jeffrey Toobin, lawyer, author, and legal analyst for CNN and The New Yorker, hosted by Susan McCone & Robert Wessely.
