Letters to the Editor Winsted Republican Town Committee members are realistic
Despite comments recently published and made by current Selectman Todd Archelaschi, any decisions we (the RTC) have made, and any statements that have come out of the RTC, are always voted on and we strive for unanimous decisions.
Those votes have included Mr. Archelaschi in a concluded consensus.
We work together through every decision on the committee. It is the same way we have and will work on the boards of selectmen and education with our elected peers.
Collaborative decisions will only help to move the committee and the town forward in the direction we are trying to achieve.
As Republicans, we are realistic. We ask important questions and expect answers. We refuse to mislead the community by saying all is wonderful and great.
While Winsted is on an upturn, we still have a lot of work to be done.
State-level issues are volatile right now, thanks to the Democrats, and people are moving out and voting with their feet. That includes businesses.
Because of what’s happening at the state level, it has caused a trickle-down effect here in Winsted.
We need to continue to worry about asking questions regarding the budget, our roads and infrastructure, support our businesses and their rights, and realize bond payments have been satisfied and funds reallocated.
As Republicans we strive for progress and transparency. We want sustainability in new families and businesses that we will attract to our community.
I, as well as the rest of the Republican Party, will continue to work on behalf of the taxpayers. — Lisa Smith, chairman, Winsted Republican Town Committee
