-

TORRINGTON >> The Torrington Arts & Culture Commission is announcing a brand new event designed to utilize and celebrate Torrington’s Coe Memorial Park and its wonderful assets. Named “Saturday in the Park,” this event will feature art and craft vendors, live music, food vendors, and a 15-minute loop presentation on the history of the park presented by the Torrington Historical Society. The Main Street Marketplace Express train will also be making an appearance and will be there all day to take riders, both young and old, on a round trip around the park.

Saturday in the Park will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 27, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with live music beginning at noon.

“We wanted to create a new event that can become a tradition so choosing Memorial Day weekend seemed to be the perfect timing to have an event,” said ACT Chairman Edward Cannata. “We all love Coe Memorial Park and wanted to kickoff this popular weekend with a fun event for everyone in Torrington, and the surrounding area.”

“Saturday in the Park is shaping up to be a great event and I’m thankful for the hard work of the ACT Commission for their efforts. I encourage everyone to come and enjoy the vendors, live music and other event offerings and enjoy the beautiful setting of Coe Memorial Park,” said Mayor Elinor Carbone.

The Commission is still welcoming vendors, if anyone is interested please reach out to ACT commissioner Rachel Kelly or Ed Cannata at actcommission@ gmail.com or visit www.artsculturetorrington.org.
