Police: Intoxicate­d man makes threats

TORRINGTON >> A city man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill two people while he was drunk, then chugged a beer while he was being arrested, according to city police,

Daniel B. Rodriguez, 48, of 345 East Main St. , third-floor apartment, was arrested May 18 and charged with second-degree breach of peace, interferin­g with an officer/ resisting arrest, and second-degree threatenin­g, police said.

Three officers responded to a report of a disturbanc­e on East Main Street at approximat­ely 5:33 p.m. May 18, according to a probable cause report.

“Victim #1 stated Daniel Rodriguez... was intoxicate­d and had pushed her inside her kitchen because he was not able to take a second shower for the day. Victim #1 said she was attempting to have Rodriguez go to sleep and sober up however he escalated in behavior and then threatened violence onto the victim by saying ‘I’m going to kill you (expletive,)’” the report says.

The victim left at that point, according to police, then heard a witness calling for her to come back.

“Witness #1 claimed Rodriguez then focused his hostility towards him and made a swiping gesture with his finger across his throat as he told Witness #1 that he was going to slit his throat. Rodriguez then fled to his upstairs bedroom upon hearing the police were called to the residence,” wrote the officer.

Rodriguez locked the door and refused to open it for police, who then kicked the door in. When he was ordered to lie on the floor, Rodriguez refused and began to drink a beer instead, according to police

Rodriguez was arrested and held in lieu of $2,500 bail, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 6, according to state records.
