Delaney Tavern’s Band Jam benefits scholarship funds
June 4 fundraiser being held in memory of entertainment manager Cheryl Scott
NEW HARTFORD >> Parrott Delaney Tavern will host a Band Jam to benefit the Cheryl Scott Music Education Scholarship and Canton Dollars for Scholars on Sunday, June 4, 3-8 p.m.
The event is being held in memory of Cheryl Scott, a beloved friend and manager to some of Connecticut’s most iconic rock bands and musical talent. Funds raised will establish a music and theater scholarship in her name at Canton’s Dollars for Scholars program. Bands include Tirebiter, Kathy Thompson Band, Bad Moon Rising, The Doug Jones Group, Beatles Forever, Nifty Fifties, Rock Solid Alibi, Steppin’ Out, Fountainhead, The Cartells, and Scott Family. Pete Willett, “Ozone Pete,” will perform acoustic songs between sets and the groups will come together for a grand collaboration finale.
Scott began her entertainment management business in 1974. For the next 40-plus years, Cheryl Scott Management worked with a long list of bands, clubs, and civic groups providing planning and management assistance to further the success of her clients’ events. Many of the bands she represented are performing at the June 4 event. In addition to this event, her clients included the Mohegan Sun All-Stars; Eight to the Bar; Sounds of Frank and many Park and Recreation Departments around the State. She was a member of the National Conference of Personal Managers, on the East Coast, serving as vice president for a five-year term. She also volunteered in the Canton school system.
The $25 ticket includes light appetizers and music by 10 of Connecticut’s bands performing rock, pop and jazz. A cash bar is available. Tickets are $30 at the door. To reserve, go to www.parrotdelaneytavern.com. The tavern is located at 37 Greenwoods Road in New Hartford.
