FISHING DERBY: New Hartford Recreation Department presents the 10th Annual David Childs Memorial Fishing Derby along the Farmington River. The event begins Saturday, May 27, at 7 a.m. and ends on Sunday, May 28, at 3:30 p.m. There are Adult and Youth prizes with a top prize of $1,000. Cost is $10 for adults, $3 for ages 12 and under or a $15 maximum per family. BINGO: Sons of Italy, Center Street, Torrington, hosts bingo games on Wednesdays, 4-9:30 p.m. with dinner at 5 and calling at 6. FARM FRESH MARKET: Litchfield Hills Farm-Fresh Market will be held May 27 and June 3 at the Litchfield Community Center, 421 Bantam Road, Litchfield; moves outdoors to the lot adjacent to Center School on Route 202 on June 17. Fresh produce, baked goods, prepared foods, tastings and much more. Music, guest artists, chef demonstrations, local nonprofits and a free gardening and cookbook exchange. SALISBURY MARKET: The new Salisbury Farmers Market will be held every Saturday morning starting May 20, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the lawn at the Scoville Library, with an array of vegetables, meats, cheeses, rustic breads, jams, vinegar and plants plus occasional guest appearances by chefs and other food producers. Markets continue weekly through October.
ART SHOW: Trinity Gallery Art Show will be held May 27-29, June 3-4, 12-4 p.m. An acrylic lecture and demo by Boston artist Adria Arches will be held Sunday June 4, 12:30-2:30 p.m., door prize drawing at 2:20 p.m.
SATURDAY IN THE PARK: The Torrington Arts & Culture Commission will celebrate Torrington’s Coe Memorial Park and its wonderful assets with “Saturday in the Park,” featuring art and craft vendors, live music, food vendors, and a 15-minute loop presentation on the history of the park presented by the Torrington Historical Society, May 27, rain or shine, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Live music starts at 12 p.m. The Main Street Marketplace Express train will also be making an appearance and will be there all day to take riders, both young and old, on a round trip around the park.

VETERANS WELCOME: The American Museum of Tort Law (AMTL), in Winsted is offering $1 admission for Winsted and Torrington veterans, their family, friends and neighbors to commemorate Memorial Day, Saturday, May 27. Tours for Winsted residents at 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. for Torrington residents. Museum founder Ralph Nader will greet visitors joining the tours. MEMORIAL DAY MASS: There will be a Memorial Day Mass at 12 p.m. at the New St. Francis Cemetery, 863 South Main Street, Torrington. The Rev. Robert Tucker will celebrate Mass. Everyone is invited.
TOWN PICNIC: A Memorial Day Old Fashioned Town Picnic will be held Monday, May 29, 2 p.m. at the Morris Town Beach Pavilion. Admission is free. There will be live music and activities for children. Bring a dish to share.

NO TRASH PICKUP: There will be no curbside collection of trash and recyclables on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29 in Torrington. There will be a one-day delay for pick up of all municipal solid waste and recyclables collection for the remainder of the week following Memorial Day. Friday’s regularly scheduled collection will be on Saturday. The regular schedule will resume the following week.
