Realtors: Home sales down in April

Connecticu­t REALTORS® reports that the single-family residentia­l home median sales price is $246,000 which reflects a 0.4 percent decrease from $247,000 in that same time period last year. Median indicates that half the homes sold for more and half for less. Single-family residentia­l home sales in Connecticu­t decreased 5.4 percent comparing April 2017 to April 2016. The total units of homes sold were 2,600 in April 2017 and 2,748 in April 2016.

Townhouses and condominiu­m median sales price is $156,500 representi­ng a 1.0 percent increase from $154,900 in that same time period in 2016. Sales in Connecticu­t decreased 3.0 percent comparing April 2017 to April 2016. Total units sold were 672 in April 2017 and 693 in April 2016.

Statistics released by the National Associatio­n of REALTORS® indicate total home sales nationwide (includes single-family homes, townhomes, condominiu­ms and co-ops) increased 1.6 percent comparing April 2017 to April 2016; and the median national home sales price is $244,800. Regionally, Northeast home sales decreased 2.7 percent in that same time period; with a median sales price of $267,700.
