‘Touch a Truck’ is Saturday at Lowe’s
TORRINGTON » Torrington’s annual “Touch a Truck” will offer participants an opportunity to connect with a variety of different modes of transportation. This annual event will be held Saturday, June 3, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outdoors in the parking lots surrounding the Lowe’s Home Improvement, 420 Winsted Rd. Torrington. This event will be held rain or shine.
“Touch a Truck” allows children and adults to experience what it’s like to climb into a variety of trucks and vehicles. Fire trucks, ambulances, loaders, garbage trucks, police cars and construction vehicles – are just some of the dozens of vehicles that will be on display. This is a free event, open the public.
Sponsors of the event are Lowe’s Home Improvement, Torrington Parks and Recreation, and Torrington Lions Club.

Beer festival is Saturday
TORRINGTON: » Brooker Memorial and St. Maron Church will hold the seventh annual Litchfield Hills Beer Festival on Saturday, June 3, 1-5 p.m. at Elks Pond in Torrington.
This event will feature more than 35 venders of specialty beers, microbrews, cider and moonshine to sample.
Tickets are $20 in advance or at the door.
There will be food, live music, and a variety of silent auction items as well as raffle prizes.

Theater to hold charity golf tournament
THOMASTON » Landmark Community Theatre, the non-profit arts organization which manages the historic Thomaston Opera House, will hold its 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 29 at 11 a.m. The event will talk place at Chippanee Country Club in Bristol, and includes 18 holes of golf, a barbeque lunch, cocktails, and a buffet dinner, as well as door prizes, contests, and an exciting raffle featuring many high quality gifts and certificates to local restaurants and stores.
Contests include: Longest Drive (Male and Female), Closest to Pin (Back 9/Front 9), Hole-in-One and others.
Registrants who pay by June 8 will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a flat screen television.
Support allows LCT to continue in its mission to offer opportunities where the community may produce, participate in, and enjoy the performing arts; to educate all ages in theater and music; and to preserve and protect the Opera House as a historic landmark and community space.

Society invites residents to share town’s history
LITCHFIELD »The town of Litchfield, Connecticut will be celebrating its 300th Anniversary in 2019. Litchfield encompasses the center village, Bantam, Northfield, Milton, East Litchfield, and Morris (pre1856), and the Litchfield Historical Society seeks to document all areas of town. A Common Heritage grant awarded to the Society by the National Endowment for the Humanities will fund these projects held to prepare for the anniversary.
On Sunday, June 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Historical Society is organizing a townwide Digitization Day where residents can bring in material for digitization. Staff from The Connecticut State Library will help digitize your photos, documents, textiles, and other Litchfield-related artifacts to further our research and understanding of the town. The Society will retain a copy of the digital file of the items brought in, for use in research, publicity, exhibits, and programming and inclusion in the Connecticut Digital Archive. Most items will be returned to everyone in the same day and participants will receive a copy of the digital file. This event is free and open to the public.
