ANIMAL ADOPTION DAY: The First Congregational Church of Washington’s Youth Group will partner with the Animal Welfare Society in New Milford to host an adoption event on the Washington Green at 6 Kirby Rd., June 4 at 11 a.m. This event is open to the public. LITCHFIELD DIGITIZATION DAY: Litchfield Historical Society is organizing a townwide Digitization Day on Sunday, June 4, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Staff from The Connecticut State Library will help digitize photos, documents, textiles, and other Litchfield-related artifacts to further our research and understanding of the town. The Society will retain a copy of the digital file of the items brought in, for use in research, publicity, exhibits, and programming and inclusion in the Connecticut Digital Archive. Most items will be returned to everyone in the same day and participants will receive a copy of the digital file. This event is free and open to the public. LAUREL CITY SINGERS: Laurel City Singers will present A Sacred Spring concert at First Church of Winsted, 95 North Main Street, on Sunday, June 4 at 2 p.m. in celebration of director Adam Atkins’ Connecticut Art Hero award. CORPS CAMPS: Connecticut Civilian Conservation Corps Camps: Their History, Memories and Legacy, presented by author and teacher Marty Podskoch, will be held at the Harwinton Library Sunda at 2 p.m. He will discuss the history of the 21 C.C.C. camps located throughout the state of Connecticut. Sponsored by the Harwinton Historical Society and the Harwinton Public Library. Program is free and open to all. No registration is required.

AUDUBON MEETING: The Litchfield Hills Audubon Society will hold its annual meeting and dinner on Monday, June 5 at the Torrington Elks Lodge, 70 Litchfield St., Torrington. A social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner, a brief meeting and the program at 7:45 p.m. featuring “The Disappearing Edens” with William Burt, a naturalist, writer and photographer. FIRST TUESDAY LECTURES: The Falls Village-Canaan Historical Society announces the return of its popular First Tuesday at 7 summer lecture series at the South Canaan Meetinghouse, 12 Rte. 63, in Falls Village, beginning on June 6 at 7 p.m. with Ed Kirby of Sharon, presenting “Amesville, Horatio Ames and the Ames Brothers.” The lecture series take place the first Tuesday of the summer months and last approximately one hour.
