WOODBURY » The Woodbury Lions Club is presenting their 39th Annual Car Show on June 11 at Hollow Park in Woodbury.

The day long event is expected to attract over three hundred of the best classic cars in the Northeast and over a thousand spectators. Along with automobile classes, there will be judging for motorcycles, trucks, ‘rat rods’ and military vehicles. Two new features have been added this year. First, a ‘Touch-a-Truck’, will feature heavy equipment supplied by O&G Industries, arborist Bud Neal’s bucket truck, and, a firetruck provided by the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department. “We’re always happy to have the community leaders come together at our events, especially when we see it put smiles on the faces of our youngest guests.”

The second addition for this event is the display of a Monster Truck. This is the first time that one of these huge vehicles has been featured at the car show. Additionally, rides will be available on the truck throughout the day.

Cars can begin to enter for judging at 9 a.m., with the first three hundred entries receiving a free dashboard plaque. General admission begins at 10 am. Admission price is $15 per car, $5 per person, and children under ten, $1. Judging begins at noon, with trophies presented at 3 pm.

The event will contain all the fun and excitement for the whole family that has made past shows a success, with food and beverages, raffles, music and, this year, an expanded vendor area.

The Lions use the proceeds from the car show, as well as from their Haunted Hayride, to award scholarships to graduating Nonnewaug high school seniors. This year, local students going on to college received $20,000 in financial aid from the Lions.
