DOLLAR SALE: Valley Thrift Shop’s dollar sale has been extended to June 17. Everything is priced $1 or less. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and is located at 714 Main St., Winsted.

TAG SALE: The Barkhamste­d Historical Society will hold their Annual Tag Sale on June 16-17 at 9 a.m., at the Barkhamste­d Town Garage on Route 44. Many items are available for purchase. The event helps maintain the society’s buildings as well as offer many programs and events during the year.

FRIDAY FEAST AND DANCING FEET: Friday Feast and Dancing Feet is held at the Litchfield Community Center on the third Friday of each month and enjoy a light lunch, music and dancing. This month: Friday June 16, 2017 with music by “Jerry Carillo Orchestra; lunch from 12-2 p.m., cost is $7 per person. OPENING RECEPTION: An opening reception for Judith Wyer’s paintings exhibit at the David M. Hunt Library, Falls Village, will be held June 16, 7 p.m. The exhibit, “Presence,” runs through July 15. The public is welcome and refreshmen­ts will be served.

ART RECEPTION: A reception for the I.C. Artists exhibit “Mending Art” will be held on Friday, June 16 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Harwinton Public Library. The public is welcome to attend. FARMERS MARKET: The Torrington Farmer’s Market is held Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the upper parking lot of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles Street. The Tuesday market runs from 3-6 p.m. Offered will be fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, honey and maple syrup, cheese, meats, locally produced soaps, children’s books and more. Come see what is new with your local farmers and catch up with your neighbors.

SALISBURY MARKET: The new Salisbury Farmers Market will be held every Saturday morning, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the lawn at the Scoville Library, with an array of vegetables, meats ,cheeses, rustic breads, jams, vinegar and plants plus occasional guest appearance­s by chefs and other food producers. Markets continue weekly through October. HOUSE TOURS: The Seth Thomas Bradstreet House will be open on weekends until June 24 (except Memorial Day weekend) and from Sept. 9-Oct. 30. Tours are held at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.; to arrange an alternate visit, call 860-283-5253.

FARM FRESH MARKET: Litchfield Hills Farm-Fresh Market will be held May, 13, May 27 and June 3 at the Litchfield Community Center, 421 Bantam Road, Litchfield; moves outdoors to the lot adjacent to Center School on Route 202 on June 17. SUMMER SOLSTICE FEST: The Washington Art Associatio­n & Gallery’s 9th annual Summer Solstice Festival will be held June 17, 6-9 p.m. Artists, collectors, celebritie­s and revelers come from near and far to enjoy a tropical summer evening while contributi­ng to a great cause. TREE IDENTIFICA­TION: Naturalist­s and photograph­ers Barbara and Peter Rzasa will teach participan­ts how to identify trees primarily by their bark but also by leaves and fruit, Saturday, June 17 at 9:30 a.m. at Flanders Nature Center, Woodbury, at the Sugar House. The program consists of a short lecture followed by a 2-mile hike through Flanders’s woodland trails that includes a large variety of hardwoods and softwoods.
