Hundreds enjoy auxiliary’s annual fashion show

TORRINGTON » The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary recently held its 32nd annual Fashion Show at Chatterley’s Banquet Facility in Torrington. More than 300 attendees helped raise thousands of dollars in support of hospital patient care initiatives and services.

The event is the auxiliary’s largest annual fundraiser and was changed to an evening event this year.

The theme was “community”, and included a cocktail hour, dinner and a show featuring fashions by J. Jill of Canton, the Charlotte Gift Shop at CHH, and Ida’s Formal Wear of Torrington. Some of the models and escorts were 2017 recipients of the Auxiliary’s annual healthcare scholarship program.

“The 32nd Annual CHH Auxiliary Fashion Show was a great success,” said auxiliary board member and event organizer Susan Cook, in a written statement. “We were all thrilled with the turnout and community support. We wish to thank the attendees, the incredible volunteers and models, all of the local businesses who donated raffle prizes, the staff at Chatterley’s Banquet Hall, and our special guest performers.”

Actresses Rebekah Derrick as Mary Poppins and Lyn Nagel as the bird woman performed live songs from the upcoming “Mary Poppins” musical that will be presented at Torrington’s Warner Theatre July 29 to Aug. 6. For more information and tickets call the box office at 860-489-7180 or visit www. warnertheatre.org

Proceeds from the show directly support items and projects for the hospital, in addition to providing scholarships for local students pursuing careers in the medical field.

The auxiliary was formed in 1916 and has been a significant source of physical and financial aid to the Hospital for over 100 years.

The auxiliary has over two hundred volunteer members who assist in raising money for CHH and the community through

dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and assisting with a variety of events.
