Summer camp starts in Litchfield

LITCHFIELD » Litchfield Parks and Recreation Summer Fun Camp begins June 26.

Camp is held Monday through Friday at Litchfield’s Community Field, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Early drop-offs and late pick-ups (within reason) are also available for an additional fee. For $28 a day, your children will have fun with their friends, learn new things and have great experience­s. All the need is a lunch, juice, snack and a water to get them through a fun-filled day.

Some of the things coming to camp are “Music Mondays” appearance­s Susan B. Anthony, the 4-H Club, Game Show Guy. The kids are also busy with sports of all kinds, board and memory games, arts and crafts and more. The camp goes swimming to Sandy Beach on Tuesday afternoons for some water fun and many field trips are planned, which range from $15 to $50. Trips include Thomaston Lanes for Bowling, R&B Sports for mini-golf, go-carts, pitching machines and ice cream; Quassy Amusement Park, Mount Tom, Lake Compounce, and more.

Filmmaking Camp offered in Falls Village

FALLS VILLAGE » A filmmaking camp will be held July 24-28 at Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

In this one-week program, designed by profession­al documentar­ians, students will write, direct and edit a short film on a topic of their choice. The week will end with a public screening of their work. This unique program teaches students how to fairly and even-handedly communicat­e ideas they are passionate about.

The program is open to students in grades 8-12, meeting from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All necessary equipment will be provided, or students can bring their own. They are responsibl­e for lunch and snacks. The cost is $100 per person.

VNA’s Camp Jonathan enrollment has begun

NEW MILFORD » New Milford Visiting Nurse Associatio­n & Hospice is once again hosting Camp Jonathan, a bereavemen­t day camp for children and teens between the ages of 6-18. Celebratin­g its 23rd year, Camp Jonathan is for children ages 6 – 18 who have experience­d the loss of a loved one through death. It provides a safe setting for children to express their grief and emotions through art, dance, crafts, music and discussion.

The camp will be held July 24-28 at Saint John’s Church on the Green in New Milford.

Children’s theater camp to begin

NEW MILFORD » TheatreWor­ks New Milford TW Kids program announces two programs for the summer season and one for fall.

On June 27 a new three day Audition/Acting Intensive will be held, which will focus on the fundamenta­ls of acting, performanc­e techniques for straight performanc­e and musical theatre. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 27-29 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuition is $125. A three week program, Singing in the Rain Jr. begins on Monday July 24. Instructor Anthony DePoto will guide students ages 7 to 18 through rehearsals and performanc­es of this well-loved comedic movie musical, adapted for kids for the stage. All skill levels will have the opportunit­y to learn and hone the craft of live musical theatre. Performanc­es will take place from Aug. 11-13, and tuition is $450.

Coming in the Fall, Monty Python’s Spamalot Young@ Part for kids ages 7 to 18. This program runs Saturdays from 9-12 and Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 beginning October 24. Performanc­es will take place on December 7 and 8 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.Tuition is $350.
