Thanks to all who took part in Earth Day

-

There is an adage, “Better late than never,” which I am going to put to the test.

On April 22, Earth Day, Friends of Main Street in Winsted undertook our annual cleanup day of the Main Street area and Mad River embankment. Volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 1027, Cub Scout Troop 1027, Gilbert School, Viridian Energy, Winsted Trails and our own Friends of Main Street volunteers picked up trash, cut brush along the embankment of the river and undertook tree clearing along a stretch of the river that has not been tackled before.

A lot of trash was collected and brush and tree cuttings piled.

Thank you to all the volunteers for your help and support. Thank you to the town and Jim Rollins along with public works for picking up all of the trash and pilings.

We also thank the American Museum of Tort Law for providing the staging area for this year’s activities and finally, ABC, Kent, Mario’s and Noli’s for providing the delicious pizzas that fed our volunteers at the conclusion of the day’s work.

As is always the case, we have a wonderful citizenry in Winsted who always step to the plate to help with the betterment of our community their only motive.

On behalf of Friends of Main Street, thank you again for all your help and support, and again, my apologies for being so remiss in publicly recognizing and thanking everyone for their wonderful service.

— Francis S. Delaney, president, Friends of Main Street, Winsted
