Route 202 intersection is dangerous

-

A very dangerous situation has existed for months on Route 202, and it is time something is done about it.

I’m speaking about the exit from the Price Chopper/ Walmart complex parking lot onto Route 202. When this exit was built, there was a prominent sign that said “Right Turn Only.” A lot of people ignored it, and either went straight into the Goodwill parking lot or left onto Route 202.

If a police officer was stationed there, I believe he or she could have written enough tickets to fund the whole Torrington Municipal Budget for the year.

Now the sign has faded to the point there is nothing on it.

Last week, I was waiting to make a left turn from Home Depot into Price Chopper, a car came out of the parking lot trying to make a left turn and pulled right up to my door, honking his horn and yelling at me as if I was doing something wrong.

I tried to get out of this lunatic’s way and almost got hit by an oncoming car. Every time I pass that complex, I see someone holding up traffic trying to cross four lanes of traffic.

First, I urge the city or owners of the property to fix the sign, even fix the road so that the curb only allows for a right turn. The present system doesn’t work.

Second, once the sign is fixed, a police officer should be stationed at Taco Bell and arrest anyone trying to make this illegal move. Someone is going to get killed if nothing is done about this. This needs to be fixed immediately.
