Man pleads guilty to robbery, assault
LITCHFIELD » A Winsted man accused of beating a man with an ice scraper in January pleaded guilty to felony robbery and assault charges this week in Litchfield Superior Court.
Anthony Pasquariello, 20, of 46 Rock St., Winchester, was arrested Feb. 2 after three men allegedly beat the victim with an ice scraper and stole $70 dollars from him, as well as his wallet and identification, according to an affidavit seeking a warrant for Pasquariello’s arrest.
Officers responded to North Main Street at approximately 8:19 p.m. on Jan. 18, according to the affidavit.
The affiant stated a Winchester police officer found the victim “standing on the sidewalk bleeding profusely from his head.” The man told police in a statement that he had been assaulted by three men while walking away from a convenience store on Main Street.
Two of the men had grabbed him, he told police, while a third had struck him with the ice scraper, which was about 3 feet long.
The man required 22 stitches to close a laceration near his right eye and six staples to close a laceration on the right side of his head, police said.
After an investigation, two juveniles and Pasquariello were arrested in connection with the case.
Pasquariello pleaded guilty on June 27 to conspiracy to commit first-degree assault — serious physical injury and first-degree robbery — serious physical injury, according to court records.
He is facing a recommended prison sentence of between 10 and 15 years, according to court documents, execution suspended after five to seven years, with three to five years probation.
The mandatory minimum sentence in the case is five years, according to court documents.
Pasquariello is next scheduled to appear in court Sept. 12, according to court records.
