Actors welcome to ‘Mamma Mia’ auditions

THOMASTON» Landmark Community Theatre will hold auditions for “Mamma Mia!” on Sunday, July 16 and Tuesday, July 18 in the Arts Center Theatre at the Thomaston Opera House.

Auditioner­s must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars (about a minute) of a fully memorized musical theater song showcasing the style and vocal range of the character for which they are auditionin­g. Songs from “Mamma Mia!” are allowed. Additional vocalizing may also be a part of the audition to determine vocal range and harmonizin­g skills. An accompanis­t will be provided; no recorded accompanim­ent is permitted. A short dance combinatio­n will be taught, so please come prepared for movement. Auditioner­s without an appointmen­t will be seen as time allows. Video auditions are accepted for those unable to attend on the scheduled dates.

Foster Evans Reese will direct and choreograp­h “Mamma Mia!” with music direction by A.J. Bunel. The show will open Sept. 23 and run through Oct. 8, for eight performanc­es. Rehearsals begin the week of July 23. Rehearsal days will be determined by cast availabili­ty.

Told through the legendary music of ABBA, Mamma Mia! has become a worldwide sensation that has audiences everywhere dancing.
