Commerford & Sons with rides, games, food vendors and music by D.J. Vin Avallone. Gates open at 4 p.m. Fireworks begin at dark on Friday night; Saturday night is the rain date for the fireworks. On Friday night, admission for vehicles is $10, walk ins are $2 per person. Parking is available for $5 at Bishop Donnelly Field. All fees will defray the cost of the celebratio­n, which costs the city approximat­ely $30,000 and is dependent on donations and gate fees. PITTIE PARTY: The Little Guild, the oldest and most active animal shelter in Northwest Connecticu­t, will be hosting the sixth annual “Pittie Party” Free Vaccine Clinic on Saturday, July 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Coe Memorial Park in Torrington. 100 rabies and distemper dog vaccines will be provided by The Little Guild, at no charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Spay/neuter appointmen­ts will also be provided. The event, originally named as a tribute to the large population of in-need pit bulls in the area, is open to dogs of all breeds. Attending owners are asked to bring secure leashes, as well as any medical records they have for the dogs they would like vaccinated. BAKE SALES: The First Congregati­onal Church of Torrington will be holding its summer bake sales on July 8, July 22, Aug. 12 and Aug. 26, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Stop and treat yourself to late breakfast items and desserts.
