Good things come in threes
I have long been fascinated with the phrase “Good Things Come in Threes” so I did a bit of research. The Rule of Three, “omne trium perfectum”, has become a positive connotation because it creates humor, satisfaction and effectiveness.
On your mark, get set, go! Up, up and away! I came, I saw, I conquered! Blood, Sweat and Tears! Location, Location, Location! Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness! Faith, Hope and Charity! Of the people, By the people, For the people! Three French Hens! Three Stooges! Three Legged Race! Three Little Pigs! Three Pieced Suits! Three Special Grandchildren! Three Loyal, Strong Chamber Staff! Three Tremendous Celebration of Success Honorees: Ken Merz, Tim and Susan Cook and the McCall Center for Behavioral Health! It’s just like a Three Ring Circus!
Over the last few weeks, we witnessed Three Milestones that are worth noting.
Congratulations and best wishes to Larry Cassella who just retired from LARC after 36 Years as Executive Director. One would have to search high and low for a more effective, sincere, dedicated leader who helped to make the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities so much more gratifying. Under Larry’s direction, guided by a vision of Community for All, LARC provides employment, residential, day support, transition and recreation programs throughout Litchfield County. LARC also offers Camp MOE, a traditional outdoor summer day camp for children with and without special needs. Larry is a true gentleman, with a kind, thoughtful response no matter how challenging the situation. How lucky for us that he remains active throughout the region and the Chamber!
What radio station gets you up in the morning? Covers all of your events and initiatives? Introduces you to unique programs and people? Provides in person, immediate sound bites? Runs live broadcasts of the latest happenings? Responds immediately to your marketing needs? Puts a smile on your face during that long drive time? Connects you to breaking news? Directs you the best driving conditions? Warns you of pending weather concerns? Partners with community entities drawing attention to important causes? Loves this community and its people? You know it! Aren’t we fortunate to have FM97.3 WZBG as the “go to” radio station in Litchfield County for 25 years as of July 3? Happy Birthday and thank you to our friends who start and end our day with all that we need to know.
Have you visited KidsPlay Children’s Museum in downtown Torrington celebrating its Fifth Anniversary early in August and just opening North Gallery? They have expanded this wonderful venue to 10,000 square feet, drawing a larger geographically diverse visitor base and most certainly having a positive effect on the economic development of Torrington and beyond. Over 128,000 visitors have spent hours of valuable time “playing” and learning at KidsPlay. The new expansion, programs and exhibits will attract children ages 1 to 12 and truly all of us who are young at heart. Led by creative and generous founders and supporters, the museum is run by a Board of Directors, the Museum Director, staff and volunteers. This is a treat you will want to experience! Kudos to KidsPlay!
Three milestones for sure! Good things do come in threes!
