Forbes Flyers compete in jump rope tourney
TORRINGTON » Nineteen jumpers on the Forbes Flyers jump rope team competed at the USA Jump Rope National Tournament held in Disneyworld in Orlando Florida in June. The jumpers worked hard to prepare for this event, and competed in power speed, freestyle events and team show. Seven of the 19 team members qualified to jump on the final day against the best for a chance at a Grand National title. This was the most jumpers we have had make it to the Grand National Stage.
The team’s youngest jumper, Jacob Robles, earned a gold medal in his age division for Male Single Rope Freestyle and the opportunity to jump for a Grand National Title.
James Ballesteros won a bronze medal in Male Single Rope Freestyle in his age division and qualified to jump in Grands.
Dahra Dy won a gold medal for Male Single Rope Freestyle and earned enough points from his placement in other events to not only compete at Grands but to earn the title and plaque for Male Overall Champion for 1314 year old Males.
Ali Bottari won a bronze medal for Female Single Rope Freestyle and the opportunity to also compete on the Grand National Stage.
Ian Henry, Abby Navin and Ali Bottari also earned the opportunity to jump at Grands by earning a 4th place finish in Double Dutch Single Freestyle. Dahra Dy, Olivia Gordon and Suzie Navin earned a bronze medal in Double Dutch Speed Relay.
The team earned numerous ribbons, placing them in the top ten. Team Show won second place, missing first place due to a Tie-break rule by a difference by a tenth of a point.
