‘Over the Edge’ info session welcomes potential ‘Edgers’ on Thursday in North Canaan

-

NORTH CANAAN » Three partnering nonprofits — Prime Time House, the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council, and the Northwest Connecticut Chamber Education Foundation — will be available to introduce people to Over the Edge NWCT, and to share information about how to secure one of the coveted spots to rappel 111 feet down Torrington Towers on Sept. 16 during the Over the Edge NWCT event.

The information session will be held at Geer Village, 99 South Canaan Rd., North Canaan on Thursday, July 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. During this time, anyone can learn more about Over the Edge NWCT and what is involved to earn a rappel spot as an individual “Edger” or as a team of “Edgers.”

The three regional nonprofit organizations will bring their ‘fundraising to new heights’ with this unique and thrilling event. Using the Over the Edge platform, northwest Connecticut residents will raise funds and awareness over the next three months to have the opportunity to rappel down Torrington Towers in September. The three partnering non-profits are urging people to sign up now in order to use the summer to get supporters to help them reach their goal.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Sharon Hospital, PAC Group LLC, O&G, with additional support from Crystal Rock Water, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and Litchfield Distillery. It is also made possible through the support of the Torrington Housing Authority.

Incentive prizes for those who are signing up for the event include dining gift certificates. For the first “Edger” to raise $5,000, Spirit Ballooning is donating one spot on a champagne, scenic balloon flight from one of their balloon ports in the area. There are other incentive prizes that will be announced as well.

Since 2008, Over the Edge Global has helped non-profits raise more than $45 million and put 25,000 fundraisers safely ‘over the edge’. Now, through its new Community Wide Events program, non-profit organizations in smaller communities like northwest Connecticut can join forces to give their supporters a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rappel among the cheers of family and friends.

Individuals must raise a minimum of $1,000 for the partnering non-profits to secure their rappelling position. To register or learn more, visit https://otecwe. com/nwconnecticut/
