-

LITCHFIELD » People’s United Bank celebrated the grand opening of its 85th Connecticut Stop & Shop branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 29 at the Litchfield Stop & Shop, 55 Village Green Drive Litchfield. The location represents the first People’s United branch to open in the Litchfield community.

We were pleased to officially mark the organic expansion of our franchise in Litchfield with the opening of our Litchfield location, which brings the number of Connecticut locations to 85”, said Kevin Dougherty, first vice president and growth manager for the Greater New Haven Market. “People’s United is looking forward to serving the financial needs of even more Connecticut residents with this location.”

People’s United offers a full range of banking services in the Litchfield in-store branch — customers may apply for a mortgage or a home equity loan, business loans, invest funds or open a checking or savings account at this location as in any of the bank’s branches. The branch features seven–day banking with extended hours, and a convenient ATM, accessible during store hours.

Building on its nearly 175year history of supporting the communities it serves, People’s United makes a donation to a local charity when it opens a new branch. In Litchfield, People’s United will contribute $1,000 to EDAdvance/Skills21. Skills21 delivers a flexible, affordable, and road tested model for driving student success. Using a variety of learning technologies, Skills21 programs help increase rigor and relevance at school, increase academic achievement, lead to improved 21st century skills, impact students interest in STEM, and help students collaborate with peers from different backgrounds.
