Night of Miles race on Aug. 15
LITCHFIELD » Litchfield Parks and Recreation and the Litchfield Track Club will host the second “Night of Miles” event at the Plumb Hill Track near the Litchfield Intermediate School. The first race was held July 18. The next race is Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Entry fee is $2 per person and registration begins at 5:45 p.m.
All ages are invited to run a mile on the track, which is a Mondo surface — the same material on which the Olympics track events were run at the Beijing and the London Olympics, according to recreation department staff members.
Sunstroke Timing is providing timing for the race. Dave Driscoll, Litchfield Track Club Head Coach, is compiling a list of the fastest times run during previous races.
Runners will compete with others in their age groups with the youngest age group running first and the oldest age group running last. Some age groups with very competitive runners can be combined.
Awards will be given for the first 3 in each age group: 9 and under; 10-12; 13-15, 1618; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 5059; 60 & over in both male and female categories.
