‘Mary Poppins’ opens July 29 in Torrington
Stage company production includes plenty
TORRINGTON » The Warner Stage Company will present “Mary Poppins” as a practically perfect musical on the Warner Main Stage, opening July 29.
“Mary Poppins” is described as an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers, and a little bit of magic.
Jack-of-all-trades, Bert, introduces audience members to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family.
Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep.
Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only one she has had a profound effect upon.
Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that, “Anything can happen if you let it!”
Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, “Mary Poppins” is full of fantasy and magic and yes, Mary will fly.
The score features your favorite Poppins tunes including “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Jolly Holiday,” “Let’s Go Fly a Kite,” “Step in Time,” and “Chim Chiminey.”
The Warner Stage Company production of “Mary Poppins” is directed by Richard McKenna and Music Directed by James Luurtsemma, with Choreography by Sharon A. Wilcox. Performances are July 29, Aug. 4-5 at 8 p.m., and July 30 and Aug. 6 at 2 p.m.
