QUILTS THAT CARE: Quilts that Care, an organization that makes quilts for people undergoing cancer treatment, will meet from Mondays, Aug. 7 and 21, 6:30-8 p.m. at The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. The group will meet Tuesdays, Aug. 1 and 15 at the Bristol Public Library, 5 High St., Bristol. SUMMER LECTURE: Local historian Lou Bucceri will be the guest speaker at the Falls Village-Canaan Historical Society’s summer lecture series First Tuesday at 7, Aug.1 at 7 p.m., at the South Canaan Meetinghouse, 12 Rte. 63, Falls Village. Bucceri’s talk with be Thomas Lamb: Pioneer and Rogue, a look at the story of Lamb’s actions that created an “Iron Rush” here in the Housatonic River Valley beginning in 1732.
