Summer book event set at library
SHARON » The 21st Annual Sharon Summer Book Signing will kick off a weekend of literary events at the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon on Friday, Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Before the main event, a free children’s signing runs from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The youngest attendees will enjoy the picture books of Wendell and Florence Minor, Michele Cuevas, Jordan P. Novak, and collaborators Laurie Wallmark and Katie Wu. This year we are pleased to feature a strong selection of books for the middle grades: both fiction and nonfiction from Barbara Dee, Leonard Marcus, Peter Lourie, Anita Sanchez, Catherine Stock, and bestselling and multiple National Book Award finalist Steve Sheinkin. There is something for everyone – boys, girls, science lovers, history buffs, fiction and graphic novel fans, and sports fanatics.
Evening events begin at 6 p.m. with the 21st Annual Summer Book Signing under tents on the historic Sharon Green. Enjoy wine, cocktails, and tasty hors d’oeuvres while meeting your favorite writers. Admission is $40 and reservations may be made by calling the library at 860-364-5041. Six festive author dinners will follow at local homes.
Since 1997 the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon has been welcoming authors, townspeople, and neighbors from across the tri-state region to celebrate books, literature, and literacy. The proceeds from the Summer Book Signing support our mission to promote the power of the written word and the importance of books in the lives of everyone, from the youngest child to great-grandparents. Our historic library provides books, cultural programs, art shows, English-language tutoring, myriad children’s activities, and access to technology for thousands of people annually. Come to the signing, support the library and get an early start on your holiday shopping, while treating yourself to a few good books to enjoy before summer is over.
