Come for a picnic, take a class at the Bellamy-Ferriday House
BETHLEHEM » A town-wide picnic will be held at the Bellamy-Ferriday House on Saturday, Aug. 19, followed by a wreath making workshop on Sunday, Aug. 20. On Saturday, guests are invited to bring a place setting, picnic blanket or chair and a dish to share — hot, cold, or desert. The whole town and beyond is invited to this afternoon of family fun, food and fellowship.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for sale by the Bethlehem Lions Club. Visitors can stroll through the Ferriday Gardens, participate in children’s games and enjoy musical entertainment courtesy of the Woodbury-Bethlehem Community Music Foundation.
The Ferriday Garden and the picnic festivities are free. All are welcome including families and groups. House tours will be available for regular admission prices. Bethlehem residents get $5 house tours, and CTL Members always enjoy free tours.
For the picnic, RSVP is required by Wednesday, Aug. 16 to bellamy.ferriday@ctlandmarks.org or 203-2667596.
In the event of inclement weather, this event will be moved to Sunday, Aug. 20.
On Sunday, guests are invited to the house for an herbal wreath workshop, led by George and Carol McCleary, site horticulturists, from 1-4 p.m. Participants can earn tips and techniques for growing, collecting and drying flowers and herbs. Reservations are required; the cost is $25 per wreath including materials and admission to the house.
The Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden is located at 9 Main Street North. It is open for tours May through October.
