LITCHFIELD » The St. Anthony’s Circle, Daughters of Isabella award two $1,000.00 Education Awards to Roman Catholic graduating seniors who are members of ST. Anthony of Padua or Our Lady of Grace who attend Mass regularly. Awards are based on volunteer work, academic excellence and extracurricular activities.

The 2017 recipients both attended Litchfield High School and are exemplary young men of faith.

Eric Warner is a wellrounded and caring young man with a deep interest in theater and in living his faith through helping others.

In theater, he has worked his way from Stage Crew member, to Assistant Stage Manager, and finally, in his last two years in high school, to Stage Manager, where is goal has been to ensure that the production goes as intended. According to Eric, if the performance goes well, it will appear that “as Stage Manager, I’ve done nothing at all.”

Through his role of Peer Mediator, Eric has helped fellow students cope with stress and the emotions it can evoke and hopes that in college he will be able to continue serving ina supportive role and spreading the messages that our church teaches. Says Eric, “When stress overwhelms people, it’s good to know that someone will be there to comfort you, and I hope to be that person.”

Eric served as Anchor for the Litchfield Cowboys News Roundup and plays trombone for the Jazz Band. He has achieved awards for exemplary work ethic (the Father Tucker Award) and for scholarship, leadership and citizenship (the Je4fferson Book Award). He will attend Eastern State University in the Fall.

Peyton Mello has supported his church and his community by volunteering his time in various capacities; CCD teacher, Bible Camp counselor, participant in the Lourdes Shrine Living Nativity and in school was a member of the Acts of Kindness Club.

Peyton’s extracurricular activities included cross country team, swim team, track & field and sailing. He participated in Student Council, was a member of the National Honor Society and Vice President of the National Foreign Language Society.
