Woman accused of hitting officer with car arrested
TORRINGTON » A city woman accused of striking a police officer with her car has been arrested, police said.
Dhana Ryan, 47, of 651 South Main St., was arrested Wednesday and charged with assaulting an officer, interfering with an officer, reckless driving, operating under suspension, and evading responsibility, according to a release from Lt. Bart Barown III.
“On August 8, 2017 detectives attempted to take Ryan into custody for 3 outstanding arrest warrants. Ryan fled from the detectives and in the process stuck and injured an officer with her vehicle,” Barown said in the release. “The officer suffered an injury to his right knee but is expected to return to work.”
Police announced Tuesday
that they were searching for Ryan in connection with the alleged Aug. 8 incident, which included a collision in a Citgo gas station on South Main Street.
Her vehicle was found in Waterbury Aug. 9, Barown said Wednesday.
Ryan was also charged on the three arrest warrants for, respectively, a violation of probation and two counts of failure to appear in court, Barown said.
She was held in lieu of $216,000 combined bail pending her appearance in court Thursday, according to police.
Ryan was arraigned Thursday at Superior Court in Bantam and remained in custody in lieu of bail, according to court staff.
Her case was transferred to Litchfield Superior Court and continued to Sept. 6.
