City takes part in Dis­cover CT bike ride

TOR­RING­TON » Ev­ery year Bike Walk CT part­ners with com­mu­ni­ties to host a Dis­cover CT bike ride se­ries.

These events are pro­moted statewide and at­tract be­tween 100-200 peo­ple of var­ied age and abil­ity. This year Tor­ring­ton is one of three com­mu­ni­ties cho­sen to host a Dis­cover CT bike ride.

This event will be held on Satur­day, Sept. 23, start­ing and end­ing at Coe Me­mo­rial Park on Litch­field Street, Tor­ring­ton. The event has some­thing for the avid rider as well as for fam­i­lies who would like to par­tic­i­pate in the event. Some of the ac­tiv­i­ties will in­clude three routes for riders to choose from, a 12, 27 and 52-mile route; a kid’s “bike rodeo” which is a fun event geared to­ward teach­ing young chil­dren bike safety by a cer­ti­fied train­ers; and en­ter­tain­ment pro­vided by On Deck Stu­dios and past North­west Idol win­ners.

Or­ga­niz­ers said, “It is likely that a ma­jor­ity of the par­tic­i­pants will be from out of town. This gives us the per­fect op­por­tu­nity to show off all the amaz­ing busi­nesses and attractions Tor­ring­ton has to of­fer. This is done through spon­sor­ship op­por­tu­ni­ties that are avail­able for any busi­ness, non­profit, or per­son to take ad­van­tage of. As you will see, there are mul­ti­ple lev­els of spon­sor­ship, each with pro­mo­tional in­cen­tives, start­ing as low as $100. Spon­sor­ships can be good ol’ cash or in-kind do­na­tions.
