Book talk, reception celebrates Ripley biography
LITCHFIELD » The Litchfield Historical Society and the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy invite the public for a book talk and reception on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. with Roger D. Stone, author of the newly-released biography, “The Lives of Dillon Ripley.”
The event will be held at the Litchfield History Museum, in Litchfield.
This new, full-length biography gives insight into the amazing life and achievements of Sidney Dillon Ripley, II, an American ornithologist, wildlife conservationist, and the founder of the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy. He was also the eighth Secretary of the Smithsonian from 1964 to 1984 and spent almost 20 years teaching at Yale University. The Litchfield Historical Society and the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy are pleased to jointly-host the talk and reception. Copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event from The Hickory Stick Bookshop.
