WINGS OF FREEDOM: The Wings of Freedom Tour will be at the Waterbury Oxford Airport, at Atlantic Aviation, 288 Christian St., Waterbury, Sept. 8-10. Tours and displays will be open Friday, 2-5 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. It’s a rare chance to visit, explore and learn more about these rare treasures of aviation history. COUNTRY DANCES: The American Folk Musicians Association has announced its schedule of country dances for 2017. All dances are held at the Northfield Firehouse, 12 Knife Shop Road, Northfield, from 2-6 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $11 per person, and the dances are open to the public. TASTE OF LITCHFIELD: Taste of Litchfield will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 1-4 p.m. held at South Farms in Morris. Pre-purchased general admission is $50, which includes food, drink, and entertainment all afternoon. A VIP pass is $100 and provides food, drink, entertainment, private parking, and access to a lounge with TV and food service. Children 15 and under are $20. ANNUAL MEETING, CELEBRATION: The Barkhamsted Historical Society is combining its annual meeting with Barkhamsted Center Church’s celebration of” Old Home Day on Sunday. Church service at 10 a.m., followed by a group photo on the church steps and a pot luck luncheon around 11 a.m. Bring a dish to share. After lunch Paul Hart will lead a short hike down to the Barkhamsted Reservoir where he will point out the location of several historic sites including the original site of the Center School and the original Meeting House. WOMAN’S CLUB MEETING:
The Torrington Woman’s Club launches its 2017-2018 season on Sept. 11, at 1:30 p.m. This is a one-time change of date, due to Labor Day. Activities and programs for the year will be finalized, and tickets for the Oct. 27 Harvest Buffet fundraiser at Chatterley’s will be available. High tea and refreshments follow the business meeting. Women from Torrington and surrounding towns are welcome into The Torrington Woman’s Club, which meets first Monday of each month in the community hall of Center Congregational Church, 155 Main St., corner of Main and Church Streets. AUDUBON PICNIC: The Litchfield Hills Audubon Society will hold its annual picnic at Boyd Woods Sanctuary, Route 254, Northfield in Litchfield, on Monday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. The public is welcome. Staff from Sharon Audubon will entertain with live birds, turtles and snakes. Bring your own chair or blanket, food, beverages and utensils, and insect repellent. The annual picnic was originally scheduled in August but was rained out.

DTC PICNIC: The Torrington Democratic Town Committee will hold its annual summer picnic on Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at the Elks Pond, 180 Guerdat Road, Torrington. ART OF REMEMBRANCE: Genuis Loci: The Art of Remembrance, with Photographer Charles Moretz, will be held Sept. 13, 7 p.m. at the Olive Wolcott Library 160 South St., Litchfield. Moretz uses pictures and words to touch on his experiences in lower Manhattan in the ‘70s, the history of the World Trade Center, the architectural details of the buildings, and his photographic work.
