Prime Time House receives grant
TORRINGTON — Prime Time House received a check in the amount of $2,500 on Sept. 15 from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program.
The funding will enhance the resources in support of employment and education for young adults suffering from mental illness. Both are essential elements of recovery for people with mental illness. Education can accelerate recovery as it broadens intellectual, social and emotional horizons. The sense of pride felt by members who are seeking to advance their education also improves their opportunity to find satisfying and competitive employment.
In the past year, Prime Time House has experienced a drastic increase in the number of those age 18 to 30 they serve and the need for resources dedicated to their interest in returning to school or finding employment is paramount.
Clubhouse Program Manager Zak Ritchie said, “This money will help subsidize the cost of driver’s licenses, and classes that pertain to that, Safe Serve certifications, PSL licenses to drive a bus, and lastly money to take GED exams through Education Connection.”
Executive Director Lisa Lynch said, “We continue to be grateful to the Archdiocese for this funding, and in particular to former board member the Rev. Robert Tucker, the pastor of St. Louis de Monfort Parish in Litchfield, who continues to advocate for these funds on our behalf.”
