62nd annual Salisbury Fall Festival coming up
Plan a weekend in the historic villages of Salisbury and Lakeville and enjoy a wide variety of special events and activities this Columbus Day Weekend — Oct. 6, 7 and 8.
Wander along Main Street to find attic treasures, home-make baked goods and previously-loved books and jewelry in the local churches.
Admire the beautiful Quilt Show. Purchase Greek pastries and local honey. Sample freshlybaked bread and enjoy delicious apple crisp. Visit the many outdoor booths and stop in the local stores for special sales.
See the art exhibits in the galleries and the environmental exhibit at the Historical Society.
Book sales available at the library and book store. Be sure to cast your vote for your favorite scarecrows which will line Main Street in both Salisbury and Lakeville.
On Saturday, start the day by participating in a 5K run along the rail trail. Then indulge in a hearty breakfast of freshlymade blueberry pancakes. Look for local artisans selling handmade jewelry, pottery, textiles and leather goods.
Learn about composting, a child identification program and robots built by the high school Robotics Team.
Make autumn garlands and wreaths at a free workshop. Enjoy hot dogs, chili and cornbread, baked potatoes with toppings, and mac 'n cheese—along with delicious apples, popcorn, and fresh cider.
Learn about hawks and owls at the special Raptor Show by Audubon Sharon.
On Sunday, there's the annual pancake breakfast, exhibits and sidewalk sales. End the weekend at the Beer-Fest at the ski jumps with views of the Litchfield Hills and Berkshire Mountains. For an up-to-date schedule of times and locations, go to www.salisburyfallfestival.org.
