Authorities seize animals from Litchfield residence
Dogs, cats determined to be in poor health
LITCHFIELD — Animal control officers and State Police seized numerous animals from a home Wednesday after receiving an anonymous complaint of animal neglect.
Torrington Animal Control, assisted by state police, responded Tuesday to 365 Beach St. Two dogs and a cat were determined to be in poor health and were surrendered to an animal control officer, police said in a report.
Animal control officers and state police served a warrant the following day at the home. As a result, 16 live rabbits, four live adult cats, three live kittens, two dead kittens and five live chickens were additionally seized, according to the report. The animals are with the Torrington Animal Control and are under veterinary care, Torrington police said.
Animal Control officers from Plainville, Watertown, Woodbury, Naugatuck, Barkhamsted, New Hartford, Winsted and Harwinton assisted in the seizure.
This remains an active investigation, police said.
