Packers bring back WR McCaffrey

The Green Bay Packers signed receiver Max McCaffrey to the practice squad and released offensive lineman Don Barclay from injured reserve. It is McCaffrey’s second stint with the organizati­on after being released after training camp . ... The Chargers signed well-traveled offensive lineman Michael Ola to boost their depleted depth at the position. The Chargers also placed starting left guard Matt Slauson on injured reserve with a torn biceps. Ola has suited up for seven NFL teams and started four games in the previous three seasons . ... Browns Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas had surgery for a torn triceps, an injury that ended his season and threatened his career. Thomas was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to Tennessee, ending his streak of 10,363 consecutiv­e offensive plays . ... The Lions released punter Jeff Locke. Locke averaged 45.3 yards a punt for the Lions on 27 attempts this season. Sam Martin, the team’s regular punter, has been on the reserve/non-football injury list but was at practice Monday . ... Eagles coach Doug Pederson says nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters and starting linebacker Jordan Hicks will miss the rest of the season after being injured in the win over Washington. Peters tore his right ACL and MCL and Hicks ruptured his right Achilles tendon . ... The Falcons signed linebacker Sean Weatherspo­on for his third stint with the team. Weatherspo­on adds depth to the position which lost rookie Duke Riley to a knee injury in last week’s loss at New England.
