LARC to hold annual Festival of Trees
TORRINGTON — LARC is pleased to present its 16th Annual Festival of Trees, held and hosted by Valerie Manor at 1360 Torringford St. Lead sponsors are Valerie Manor and Thomaston Savings Bank. The Festival is open daily from Friday Nov. 24 through Sunday, Dec. 3, 1-7 p.m.
Special events include the following:
• Tuesday, Nov. 28, The Gingerbread Man Story Night, 6 p.m.
• Wednesday, Nov. 29, Caroling Party, 6 p.m.
• Thursday, Nov. 30, Grinch Night, 6 p.m.
• Friday, Dec. 1, Santa Night, 5-7 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 2, Make An Ornament Day, 2-3 p.m.
• Sunday, Dec. 3, Closing Party and End of Silent Auction, 4-5 p.m.
Funds raised by the Festival enhance the quality of life of LARC program participants. Support has enabled children with special needs attend Camp MOE, and allowed hundreds of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to enjoy the holiday party, spring and fall dinner dances, and summer pizza picnic. Proceeds from the Festival has also provided field trips for students in the School to Community Transitions Program, new furniture for residents living in group homes, iPads for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and many recreational trips and activities throughout the year.
This year, approximately 100 items ranging from themed artificial trees, gift baskets, wreaths, tabletop holiday displays, and children’s items will transform the lobby of Valerie Manor into a winter wonderland. All items are available in the Silent Auction which concludes Sunday Dec. 3 at the Closing Party from 4-5 p.m.
