KNIT ‘N STITCH: Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels and ages are welcome to bring their projects to the Harwinton Library Wednesday, Nov. 8, 7 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 10 a.m., and share ideas and techniques. VETERANS APPRECIATI­ON: Northweste­rn Connecticu­t Community College’s chapter of the internatio­nal honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, will be holding a Veteran’s Appreciati­on Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 10, 3 p.m. in the Veteran’s Oasis (White Building), on the NCCC campus. Student veterans will receive service flags as a gift from the Honors Society. The flags will then be permanentl­y displayed in the Veteran’s Oasis. VETERANS DAY: The Torrington Veterans Support Committee, and its member groups, invites the public, current military personnel, and all veterans, to join them for the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m. at Coe Memorial Park. If it rains, the ceremony will be held in the civic center at the park. ROCK THE KITCHEN: 2nd Annual Rock The Kitchen – 8 hours of live music – on November 11, from 3 to 11 at the Eagles Club 974 on Main Street in Torrington – this will benefit the Torrington Community Soup Kitchen.

BENEFIT CONCERT: Matthew Valenti will give a benefit concert at the Center Congregati­onal Church on Main Street, Torrington. A longtime music teacher, Valenti will perform patriotic songs, Broadway hits, and well-known music on the church’s grand piano. The hour-long concert will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.

HARWINTON VETERANS DAY CEREMONY: The Harwinton American Legion Post 137 will conduct a Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2 p.m. at the town green at the intersecti­on of South Rd. and Rte. 4 (Burlington Rd.). The ceremony will include a guest speaker and the honoring of each of this year’s deceased Harwinton veterans. Refreshmen­ts will follow the ceremony at the Community Hall across from the green. In the event of bad weather, the ceremony will be held in the Community Hall.
