Gala Feast and Song benefits organ fund
WARREN — The Goshen Festival Singers, based in Litchfield County, is made up of singers from Litchfield, Goshen, Harwinton, New Milford, Torrington, Warren and Watertown. They are best known for their performances at the Goshen Congregational Church’s Annual Feast and Song, where they delighted audiences with their music for several years. They have performed at churches, assisted living and nursing home facilities, and many community events. In the past they have also held very successful benefit performances for Project Main Street, a non-profit organization helping patients and families living with ALS, for the Torrington Area Parkinson’s support group to fund exercise programs for area patients living with Parkinson’s, for Goshen Hospice and for the CT Department of Developmental Services Activity Fund, for adaptive bicycles.
This year’s performance on Dec. 9 will benefit the Warren Congregational church organ restoration fund.
The antique pipe organ in the church is in need of some long overdue repairs and renovations. This dinner concert is one of many fund raising activities that will be held to raise money for the necessary work on the instrument.
Phase one of the organ restoration project is to replace/correct/ update the blower and wind system, which has an estimated cost of $25,000, as recommended by the S.L. Huntington Co. in Stonington.
This year’s gala is being presented by the Warren Congregational Church’s Music committee, along with our cooperate sponsor, Litchfield Distillery. The dinner concert will be held at 6 p.m. in the Warren Congregational Church parish hall, on 4 Sackett Hill Road in Warren.
The event will include a four course, gourmet dinner and a performance by the Goshen Festival Singers singing a variety of holiday tunes. The group will be directed and accompanied by Cindy Iffland on piano. Also accompanying the choir is instrumentalist Diane Taylor, from New Milford on the flute. Tickets are $25. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Reservations must be made by calling the Warren Congregational Church office at 860 868-7106.
