Shop offers lesson in how to knit a cowl for Christmas

- Virginia (Ginger) Balch knits, weaves and spins in all things “fibery” at her shop In Sheep’s Clothing at 10 Water St. Torrington www.in-sheeps-clothing.com or phone 860-482-3979

It’s time to pick up the knitting needles and take a bite out of the holiday gift making list. In Sheep’s Clothing at 10 Water St. will be offering a fun, fast, and easy way to make cowl this Sunday, Dec 3, at 10 a.m. Knitters must have basic knitting skills, such as casting on, knitting and purling, since this is a technque and not a learn to knit class. The technique is an easy fisherman rib that will become your go to stitch once you get that knack of it.

Students can choose from three different color ways of a wool and acrylic blend yarn for the project. The cowl will be worked in the round on a large circular needle. The pattern is only a two row repeat, so knitting will go quite quickly. If a cowl isn’t your style this yarn also works up quite nicely into a hat that can be accomplished in just an evening.

Please call ahead to reserve your spot and order your materials. 860-4823979.

The shop which will be open on Mondays now through Christmas will be available for project help. Please call ahead to make your appointment.
