BAKERVILLE LIBRARY FESTIVAL: The Bakerville Library, 6 Maple Hollow Road, New Hartford will hold its annual holiday community event and fundraiser Friday, Dec. 1, 6-8 p.m. The event starts with a bonfire, carol sing, and tree lighting behind the library. Both the library building itself and the annex next door will be open for the event. The festival features Mrs. Claus, a craft for kids, Frankie the Balloon Man, handmade fresh wreaths, a gingerbrea­d contest, refreshmen­ts, and a fundraisin­g silent auction.

HOLIDAY LIGHT COMPETITIO­N: Burlington Holiday Light Competitio­n, for Burlington residents only, will be judged Dec. 12-13, weather permitting. Prizes will be awarded for Best Multicolor­ed, and Best White Lights. Lights must be turned on for viewing between the hours of 5:30 — 9:30 p.m. Register online at myburlingt­onrec.com or fill out form at the Town Hall Recreation Department. Pre-registrati­on required by Monday, Dec. 11.

SALISBURY FORUM: Investigat­ive journalist Martin Smith will present “Proxy Ways in the Middle East: Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the U.S.” Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Salisbury School, Route 44, Salisbury. His presentati­on will be followed by a Q&A session. All Salisbury Forum programs are free and everyone is invited.

LIGHT UP BEARDSLEY: Friends of the Beardsley & Memorial Library are holding a fundraiser to “Light up Beardsley, and are asking for donations. Watch as the lights of love for the library grow on the outside evergreen tree through the month of December. Stop by the library, mail in your donation or visitbeard­sleylibrar­y.org and donate from now through the month of December. Donations are $1 per light; $25 for 50 lights; $50 for 100 lights. All proceeds benefit the library. Checks should be made out to The Friends of the Library. On Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., the Friends will hold a tree lighting ceremony at the library.

FEAST AND SONG: 21st Annual Feast & Song will be held Dec. 8, 6:30 p.m. at Church of Christ Congregati­onal, 5 Old Middle St., Goshen. ROXBURY BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Roxbury Library are hosting a oneday, holiday book sale on Saturday, Dec. 2, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Hodge Memorial Library and Museum, 4 North Street, Roxbury, offering collectibl­e books, gift books, and fine art books for sale. Patrons can browse through hundreds of books while waiting for the annual holiday tree lighting at 6 p.m., or come earlier in the day.

HOLIDAY TRAIN SHOW: The annual model train show and non-perishable food drive returns to the Torrington Armory Saturday, Dec. 2, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The annual event is hosted by the City of Torrington and the Torrington-based model railroad club. Admission is free; the club asks visitors to bring non-perishable food items for Friendly Hands Food Bank.
