Kent Historical Society thanks supporters of house tour

-

The organizing committee of the Kent Historical Society’s first annual Holiday Historic House Tour would like to extend its thanks to all of those people, businesses and organizations that assisted us with the tour on Sunday, Dec. 10. We start by thanking the more than 125 people who attended and aided us with this fundraiser.

Our House Tour was a tremendous success! Excitement, gratitude, community goodwill and holiday cheer were all there in abundance.

We are especially indebted to the seven homeowners, who hosted visitors: Deb Chabrian and Ed Martinez, Jeffrey Morgan, Bruce Whipple and Michael Ward, Alice and Jim Hicks, Joan Larned, Sarah Bacon as well as George-Ann Gowan. We have received rave reviews about how beautiful each and every home on the tour was.

We’d also like to thank the volunteers, who helped staff each of the homes to guide people through the 18th century buildings: Caroline and Don DeVita, Christine Branson, Bobbie Davis, Kent Freeman, Marel Rogers, Bonnie Jo Cheron, Darrell Cherniske, Norm Mosher, Darlene Brady, Zanne Charity, Lynn Worthington, Kathi Lee, Adrianna Martinez, Diane Blick, Frank Pierzga and Wendy Murphy. Special thanks to volunteer Austi Brown who designed all of the materials for the event.

We are appreciative of the Town of Kent’s Town Clerk’s Office, which helped us sell tickets, along with Kent Wine & Spirit and the Heron Gallery. We also thank Kent Greenhouse for its donation of beautiful red bows that marked each of the homes.

Whenever a first-time event is held there are many unknowns. We even faced down a snowstorm that left us with a pretty blanket of snow, but the roadways were clear for our visitors to travel to the seven different homes on the tour.

The committee also thanks our staff members, Brian Thomas, Patrice Galterio and Marge Smith, who all aided the event with their time, talents and suggestions.

This was truly a group effort that could not have happened without the fortitude of all those involved.

KHS is already talking about what can be done to improve the event for next year. Keep an eye on our web site, www.kenthistoricalsociety.org for upcoming plans.
