The Register Citizen (Torrington, CT)
‘Great Decisions’ group forming at library
GOSHEN — The Goshen Public Library is hosting the Foreign Policy Association Great Decisions Series this year from January through April on alternate Mondays starting Jan. 22 at 4 p.m.
This year’s topics include: The waning of Pax Americana?; Russia’s foreign policy; China and America: the new geopolitical equation; Media and foreign policy; Turkey: a partner in crisis; U.S. global engagement and the military; South Africa’s fragile democracy; and Global health: progress and challenges.
This year we are also considering having a second group if there are interested participants who cannot make it to Mondays at 4 p.m., and those who are interested are asked to call and leave your name regarding a second group time.
Course books are published by the Foreign Policy Association. The library will ask for a donation of $20 to help defray the cost of the program. Each session will include a short video clip by subject specialists (produced by FPA) and group discussion time based on the articles that participants read prior to class. This is an excellent time to learn about current events and meet new people.
The Goshen Public Library has been serving the residents of Goshen and the surrounding communities since 1902. The library can be found at 42 North St., Goshen. Call to register for the class and to reserve a book at 860-491-3234. The complete list of class dates will be available at our website: www.goshenpublib.org.
