‘Unlocking’ founders announce expansion
NEW MILFORD — Connecticut residents Lora Karam and Beverley Canepari, founders of two local blogs, Unlocking Litchfield and Unlocking Fairfield, are increasing their area from covering two counties, to the entire Nutmeg state. Their newly expanded site launches on Feb. 14.
“Unlocking Connecticut is a sassy and sophisticated blog where Lora and Bev share their fun adventures and interviews with business owners and celebrities. Their goal is to provide the inspiration to get out and try new places,” a statement reads.
“Our mission has always been to connect people and prospective customers with local businesses, as well as trying to get residents to go to places they’ve probably driven by a thousand times but never stopped,” said Karam in the statement.
“We are often hands on — driving the track at Lime Rock, paint balling in the rain, salt cave yoga, glass blowing, making mozzarella at Stew Leonard’s, and even singing with J. Geils lead singer Peter Wolf, just to name a few. We keep it fun and light. We’re real women who are up for almost anything,” said Canepari in the statement.
The blog features photos by Karam, showcasing each business and their specialties, and Canepari’s creative words documenting their experiences. They also feature celebrity interviews.
Of the expansion, Karam said, “We launched Unlocking Litchfield in 2015, and Unlocking Fairfield in 2017, but we kept getting requests from all over the state from businesses asking to be featured. We always responded with an “it’s not in our jurisdiction” response and we were always kind of bummed about that. So, now we’re without borders.”
