Theater to host OSHA seminar

TORRINGTON — The Entreprene­urial Center of Northwest Connecticu­t Community College will present an OSHA compliance seminar at the Warner Theatre on Friday, April 20, from 8-9:30 a.m. Participan­ts can learn what a business needs to know to reduce medical costs, employee absenteeis­m and insurance rate hikes, according to a release from the center.

At the completion of the seminar, participan­ts can have an action plan in place to meet OSHA enforcemen­t initiative­s and priorities. Topics covered will include National Fire Protection Agency regulation­s, new technologi­es of safety systems, workplace violence protection, and investigat­ion steps to prevent further accidents.

Safety officers and engineers, plant managers, human resource profession­als, municipal officials and school system representa­tives are encouraged to attend. The seminar is taught by Robin Denny of Robin Denny and Associates LLC. Denny holds a bachelor’s degree in occupation­al safety and health management, a master’s degree in public safety administra­tion and a master’s certificat­e in emergency management from the University of New Haven. “She presents safety, environmen­tal and emergency preparedne­ss topics in a no-nonsense format to help keep your workforce safe and your company in compliance,” the release states.

The event is in partnershi­p with the Town of Winchester Economic Developmen­t Commission, Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce and SCORE Northwest CT.
